This is a rare find - a spectacular handmade Persian Heriz from the 1960's with an allover intricate geometric design and brilliant colors. This rug was hand-knotted by expert tribal weavers in a classic Heriz geometric flower and leaf allover design .  The vibrant strawberry red backdrop is the perfect setting for the repeating leaf and flower motifs in a perfectly symmetrical design.  The pattern is hand-knotted in stunning and vivid colors that only come from natural dyes.  Sapphire blue is the dominant accent color, accompanied throughout by gold, royal blue, fruit punch pink, powder blue, rosewood and other colors, punctuated by bright white and black.  The complementary border is a harmonious frame in midnight blue with its own geometric lotus flower garland in all the colors of the rug, surrounded by thin crimson rows of tiny colorful flowers on the vine in red and white.  Great for high traffic, this rug has a full, sturdy pile that is soft underfoot and will last generations.  It has a few areas of light distress, adding character and authenticity to this vintage gem.  The fringe has a few imperfections, the pile is low in a few spots, and the edge is not perfectly straight.  See last photo for closeup. Size: 7'x10'1"
