This fine quality vintage handmade Persian Meshkin runner is bright and colorful, full of charming tribal details in beautiful spring colors. It is fine quality, made with a full sturdy pile that can withstand high traffic and will last generations. Hand-knotted by tribal village weavers from Meshkinshar in the 1980s, this runner is in excellent condition and made with superior craftsmanship. The wool is fine quality, and the dyes are all made from vegetables or other natural sources. The bold repeating small geometric medallions are known as 'guls' and often represent natural elements such as lakes or mountains. These guls symmetrically fill the runner in muted shades of sky blue, ballet slipper pink, mint green, pale yellow, orange, carnation pink, gold and countless other whimsical colors. A tiny diamond repeating motif fills the deep blue backdrop in all the colors of the rug. White is used throughout as an accent color, lightening and brightening the runner, and framing the border in rows adorned in charming colorful small botehs (ancient tribal precursors to paisleys). The watermelon border has its own whimsical geometric pattern, a garland of tribal flowers on the vine. This is a beautiful runner in a wonderful and hard to find color palette. There is also a matching pair for this runner available, perfect for bedsides, kitchens, long hallways, etc. Size: 3'10"x10'10"
