This stunning Persian Mashad is the epitome of fine quality traditional handmade Persian rugs and a signed piece (see photos). Hand-knotted in the 1970s, this rug is in mint condition, made with top quality soft wool, natural dyes and superb craftsmanship. The traditional floral and medallion design is exquisitely woven in intricate details by hand in a stunning array of colors. The medallion design is known as Sheikh Safi, as it follows the pattern of the inside of a mosque's cupola, shaped like beautiful leaves surrounding a flower in perfect symmetry. The colors are subtle and elegant. letting the design take center stage. Muted raspberry is the background color, the perfect setting for the incredibly intricate medallion in midnight blue with curvilinear lines in soft shades of peach, coral and shell pink, adorned with small flowers and leaves in fern green, indigo blue, ivory, purple, pale yellow, ivory, sapphire blue and countless other colors. These are among the colors that make up the petals of the medallion, adding countless others such as orange, gold, turquoise, lemonade pink and grass green, all of which continue throughout the rug's raspberry field in swirling floral sprays and bouquets of flowers on the vine. The medallion colors and design are echoed in the four corners, creating perfect symmetry and harmony. The midnight blue border has a gorgeous design, an elegant repeat of flowers and medallions in all of the rug's colors, surrounded by tiny flower details in all of the rug's beautiful and unique colors. The rug has a full, soft and sturdy pile that can withstand high traffic and will last for generations. The photos truly don't do it justice! Size: 11'1"x15'10"
