This is an exquisite hand-knotted vintage Persian Bidjar runner in mint condition and extremely fine quality.  The allover pattern is known as a "fish design", with intricate details in a wide array of colors hand-knotted in a hard-to-find allover design. This runner has a very high double knot count or KPSI (knots per square inch), in which each knot is woven twice.   This makes for an extremely thick, dense weave, which is why rugs like these are known as "iron rugs" that can withstand high traffic and will last generations.  The rug was hand-knotted using fine quality wool and exquisite craftsmanship.  An elegant shade of muted pink coral provides the background color for the rug. Every inch is meticulously covered in exquisite detail with small flowers, curls that look like feathers and are meant to represent fish, and countless other small geometric motifs.  The colors are phenomenal, and become more apparent as you approach the rug, much like a pointillist painting. There are so many that you can get lost in them - lavender, plum, golden yellow, chartreuse, robin's egg blue, midnight blue, ice blue, peach, cranberry, teal blue, denim blue, spearmint and countless others, all made from only natural dyes.  The stunning border is a very special part of the rug with a colorful garland of large flowers in full bloom nested against a midnight blue backdrop and framed by ivory and light blue rows of small flowers.  This is a truly special runner that will elevate any room and last for generations.  Size: 3'2"x9'7"
