This is a beautiful and striking, fine quality handmade vintage Persian Turkeman, a classic tribal Persian rug. Made of fine quality soft lambs wool, this rug has a full, supple and plush pile that is heavenly underfoot, can withstand high traffic and will last generations. The geometric and tribal allover design is finely knotted in exquisite detail in a pattern that is known as 'elephant foot'. It is a common pattern for tribal rugs from this region, hand-knotted by village weavers using only vegetable and other natural dyes. The allover design is woven by hand in white, copper and black, accents that really pop against the bright cherry red backdrop. These elephant feet alternate with other complementary slightly smaller geometric motifs, adorned with polka dot and ram's horn details, and all of these patterns are framed by a phenomenal four-layer border of incredibly fine details in red, copper, white and black. Note the charming tiny repeating white flowers in the final border frame. Size: 9'6"x12'3"
