This is a spectacular quality vintage handmade traditional Persian Tabriz in mint condition.  A true collector's piece, this rug was likely made for royalty or aristocracy and it is in mint condition, as if it has never been used.  Made of the finest wool, known as Manchester wool, which comes from the softest parts of the lamb, the rug is smooth as silk.  It is known as a 70 Raj rug,  which refers to the extremely high knot count or KPSI (knots per square inch), which makes for a truly magnificent piece of handmade artwork made from the finest materials and with superior craftsmanship.  This elegant concentric medallion design is a timeless classic with exceptionally fine and delicate tiny flowers and other motifs (the curls represent fish, and the pattern is known as a "fish design") that repeat in cascading color combinations emanating from the center of the rug. The vivid colors are made from only natural and vegetable dyes and this rug's color palette is highly unique and hard to find.  The colors shift from silver at the center to champagne, ivory, black, and then back again to ivory, heather gray and finally a pale sea green. A delicate garland separates each layer, sea green or silver and white necklace leading to the next section.  a Each layer hosts infinite and eye-popping details in an endless array of colors, from steel blue, midnight blue and Tiffany blue, copper, camel, mauve and lavender, to sage green, mint green, almond and walnut.  The details are so precise and abundant, you can get lost in them. Perhaps the most exquisite feature of the rug is the border, itself a masterpiece of 16 thin layers,  The black border is dramatic and a perfect showcase for all of the colors of the rug. The thick black frame is resplendent with large flowers on the vine in all of the rug's stunning colors, with the soft greens, blues and purples most prominent. This is in term surrounded by multiple thin ribbons of color and pattern, charming small flowers on the vine and other motifs, ending with a final black edge of charming flowers all the way to the binding. This is truly a piece of art and the photos do not do it justice (NOTE the rug is folded over at one end, as we couldn't fit it in our living room!).  Size: 13'2"x19'6"
