This is a fine quality vintage handmade Persian Qashqai Kilim rug that can also be used as a wide and long runner. This rug was handmade by expert Qashqai tribal weavers from Shiraz, Iran. It is hand-knotted in beautiful neutral earth tones made of only vegetable and other natural dyes. This size is known as "gallery size" - large enough to be used as an area rug for bedrooms or in front of a couch in a living room, while still long and narrow enough to be used in a wide hallway or foyer. The tribal and geometric design is striking in its array of intricate patterns and finely knotted details. Note the ram's horn motif (the diamond with a "T" like motif on either end), a common element of Qashqai rugs, as the animal is essential to their way of life. Bone, camel, pale peach, walnut, almond, ivory and even a very pale shade of purple alternate in stripes and and diamonds, diagonals, small "x" motifs and more. Flat weave and therefore very thin pile, also a signature feature of Kilim rugs, this rug is still great for high traffic areas and will last generations. It was handmade in the 1980s and it is mint condition. Size: 5'2"x10'7"
