This is a brand new handmade Persian Shiraz Qashqai Kilim rug.  Its geometric allover design is a hallmark of Kilim rugs from the Shiraz region of Iran. This rug is exceptionally detailed, with rich colors and patterns that harmonize beautifully.  The primary colors are made from only vegetable and other natural dyes. Royal blue, emerald green, strawberry red and ivory are the main colors, with plum, burgundy, sky blue, and mocha as accent colors that combine to create the stripes, diamonds, and other intricate tribal motifs such as the ram's horn design (the diamonds with a "T" shape on top and bottom), a common motif in rugs from this region because of the essential role that the animals play in the Qashqai tribe, providing the wool for their livelihood of weaving, for example.  There are charming tiny flowers that fill the patterns throughout the rug and the ample border.  The border is a special feature of the rug,  alternating stripes and zigzags of all the colors with tiny flowers in abundance.  Flat weave and thin pile, also typical of Kilims, this rug is still great for high traffic areas and will last generations.  Size: 4'6"x7'
