This is a spectacular rug, a handmade fine quality vintage Persian Sarough Viss with the softest pile and most brilliant colors.  Hand-knotted in the 1980s, this rug is like new and in truly mint condition.  A traditional floral and vine with a central medallion design is beautifully hand-knotted on a warm red background with a stunning rich violet blue border and a striking sapphire blue medallion at the center.  The flowers come alive in swirling leaf and vine motifs throughout the red open field in an amazing array of colors -- peach, shell pink, orange, camel, white, royal blue, turquoise, sapphire, coral, salmon, teal, gold and countless other colors, all made from only vegetable and other natural dyes.  The violet border has its own larger format floral and vine motif with the same amazing colors, framed by rows of small pink triangles and charming tiny flowers on the vine in pink and peach.  This rug is made with fine quality wool that is extremely soft, thick and plush underfoot.
