This is a truly spectacular handmade vintage large Persian Sarough of the finest quality. Hand-knotted by master weavers, this rug is made from the highest quality wool that comes from the softest parts of the lamb. It is handmade with superior craftsmanship and only natural dyes. The traditional floral and medallion design is exquisitely woven in intricate details by hand. The medallion design is known as Sheikh Safi, named after the famous mosque whose cupola from the inside is the shape of the rug's medallion, like beautiful leaves surrounding a flower in perfect symmetry. The colors are muted and soft, floating effortlessly in the royal blue background.   The pale sage green center of the rug is adorned with azure blue, pink, lavender, pomegranate, ivory and countless other colors. The points of the medallion, which radiate like leaves from the central flower, are hand-knotted in these same colors, adding mint green, ruby pink, ballet slipper pink, turquoise, lilac purple and countless others, all of which continue throughout the blue open field in swirling floral sprays and bouquets of flowers on the vine.   Additional stunning accent colors include dusty rose, sapphire, lemonade pink and walnut.  The medallion is echoed in the four corners, creating perfect symmetry and harmony.  The pomegranate border is resplendent with its own complementary flower and vine garland in all of the rug's beautiful colors, surrounded by azure blue rows of small flowers.  The rug is dense and thick, cushy underfoot and able to withstand high traffic.
