This is a rare find - a handmade vintage Persian Sarough of the finest quality in mint condition. Hand-knotted in the 1970s by master weavers, this rug is made from the highest quality wool that comes from the softest parts of the lamb. It is handmade with superior craftsmanship and only vegetable and other natural dyes. The traditional floral and medallion design is exquisitely woven in intricate details by hand, known as a Sheikh Safi design because it follows the pattern of the inside of a famous mosque's cupola, star-like and in perfect symmetry. The colors are brilliant, a deep ocean blue with accent colors of mint green, pink coral, Tiffany blue, ivory, champagne, lemonade pink, tawny and countless others. The spectacular star flower medallion is hand-knotted in Tiffany blue with ivory and pink accents, petals radiating out in blue and white with the same delicate accent colors that continue throughout the blue open field, swirling floral sprays and flowers on the vine and other stunning accent, leading the way to the pomegranate border with its own complementary flower and vine garland in blue, pink and white. The mint green corners echo the central medallion, with mint green and blue petals radiating inward with the same flourishes and flower details. The rug is dense and thick, cushy underfoot and able to withstand high traffic. It will continue to last for generations and surely make a stunning statement in any room. Size: 10'2"x13'
