This is a beautiful and fine quality handmade vintage Persian Sarough Mir runner, hand-knotted in the 1980s in a brilliant shade of violet blue. The allover repeating intricate tribal paisley (known as boteh, the ancient precursor to paisley) design appears pink from afar but is actually hand-knotted in coral and turquoise with a touch of mint green and pale yellow, colors that appear when you look closer, much like a pointilist painting. Against the lush violet blue backdrop, the charming paisleys seem to dance in the light. The border is another intriguing and decorative element of this beautiful runner, a bone colored frame that lightens and brightens the runner, with a delicate and intricate repeating geometric design that resembles hieroglyphics and uses all of the wonderful accent colors of the rug. It is framed by pale yellow rows with a charming wave-like garland of mint green. All colors are made from only vegetable and other natural dyes. Perfect for high traffic areas, this runner has a notably thick, soft, supple pile and will be cushy underfoot. It will continue to last generations. Note that the rug has a few tiny spots of low pile that are imperceptible unless you are hunting for them - see last photo for close-up. These minor imperfections make the runner a great bargain! Size: 3'4"x10'7"
