This handmade fine quality vintage Persian Sarough Mir runner from the 1980s is in mint condition. The allover repeating intricate paisley (known as boteh, an ancient precursor to the paisley) design is made up of tiny knots of sapphire, violet and white on a bright strawberry red background. The border is particularly striking and intriguing - an ivory frame of intricate geometric details that almost resemble hieroglyphics. They are woven in midnight blue, red, Carolina blue and white, surrounded by thin rows of royal blue with pale gold edges. All colors are made from only vegetable and other natural dyes. This runner is perfect for high traffic areas and anywhere you want to add color and softness underfoot. This rug is fine quality and has a noticeably soft thick pile that will last generations. Note the back of the rug has thin leather strips woven along the length of the rug to help keep it in place - another indicator of quality. Size: 3'9"x10'8"
