This is a beautiful and very fine quality handmade vintage Persian Sarough Mir runner, hand-knotted in the 1980s. It is made with very fine quality wool and expert craftsmanship, signed in one corner by the weaver.   It is in mint condition.  This long runner has an elegant allover repeating tribal paisley (known as boteh, an ancient precursor to paisley) design in alternating rows of cream and strawberry and sapphire blue and strawberry, resting on a lush and rich royal blue backdrop. The boteh design is a hallmark of Sarough Mir rugs.  Accents of yellow and chocolate enhance the paisley motifs, and the alternating colors create an elegant and dramatic effect.  All of this is bordered by a strawberry frame with intricate repeating tribal details that appear almost like hieroglyphics knotted in yellow, chocolate and blue, framed by thinner rows of repeating geometric motifs in blue and red.  All colors are made from only vegetable and other natural dyes.  This runner is perfect for high traffic areas, with a notably thick, lush and supple pile that will be soft underfoot and last generations.   Size: 3'7"x14'5"
