This handmade vintage Persian Sarough Mir runner was hand-knotted in the 1980s and is in mint condition.  The allover design is versatile, a repeating intricate tribal paisley (known as boteh, the ancient tribal precursor to the modern paisley).  From afar, the paisley motifs appear to be one or two colors, but much like a pointillist painting, the colors reveal themselves as you get closer.  Each boteh is made up of individual knots of silver, orange, black, white, sapphire, lemonade pink and champagne, twinkling on a rich cherry red background.  The border is a particularly striking and playful feature of the rug - an ivory frame that lightens and brightens the runner and adds an intricate and intriguing repeating geometric design of tribal figures, plants and flowers that resemble hieroglyphics, knotted by hand in all the accent colors of the rug.  a bright orange edge preceded the border, and colorful geometric bands surround it.  All colors are made from only vegetable and other natural dyes.  This runner is perfect for high traffic areas and anywhere you want to add color and cushy softness underfoot.  This rug is fine quality and has a notably soft and thick pile that will last generations.
