This handmade fine quality vintage Persian Sarough Mir runner was hand-knotted in the 1980s and is in mint condition. The allover repeating small and intricate paisley (known as boteh, the ancient tribal precursor to paisley) design is made up of a variety of colors that, much like a pointillist painting, only become apparent as you get closer. Each boteh is hand-knotted in lemonade pink or watermelon pink with black, white, azure blue and ocean blue details. Tehse are interpsersed with tiny blue and white flowers. The lush strawberry red background is a vibrant setting for these tiny motifs. The border is a thick ivory ribbon, which lightens and brightens the runner, preceded by a thin row of pink and white repeating diamonds. This leads to two thin rows of black with a tribal garland of pink and blue and red and white flowers that frame the ivory border. The intricate and intriguing geometric details of the border resemble hieroglyphics with their tribal symbols hand-knotted in all of the runner's colors, all of which are made from only vegetable and other natural dyes. This runner is perfect for high traffic areas and anywhere you want to add color and softness underfoot. It has a full sturdy pile that will continue to last for generations. Size: 3'6"x10'3"
