Yellow Flowers

This is a fine quality handmade vintage Persian Sarough Mir runner, hand-knotted in the 1980s and in mint condition. Perfect for high traffic areas, this runner has an incredibly thick, supple and sturdy pile that is soft underfoot and will last generations.  The allover repeating intricate paisley (known as boteh, the ancient tribal precursor to paisley) design is made of knots of sapphire, azure blue, shell pink, black, charcoal, silver and white, a surprising array of colors for such a tiny motif.  They become apparent as you get closer, much like a pointillist painting. These paisleys rest on a lush watermelon red backdrop. Framed by an ivory ribbon of intricate geometric motifs and designs that almost resemble hieroglyphics, edged by bright sapphire repeating motifs, this runner is a timeless and versatile classic.  All colors are made from only vegetable and other natural dyes.  Note there are thin leather straps sewn on the back of the runner to help keep it in place, another sign of quality for rugs from this Iran.  Size: 3'8"x9'3"
