This is a fine quality handmade vintage Persian Sarough Mir runner, hand-knotted in the 1980s and in mint condition. Perfect for high traffic areas, this runner has an incredibly thick, supple pile that is soft underfoot and will last generations.  The allover repeating intricate geometric paisley (known as a boteh, the ancient precursor to the paisley) design looks blue from a distance, but up close you can see that each one is made of royal blue, midnight blue and azure blue, shell pink and white, a surprising array of colors for such a tiny motif.  These paisleys rest on a lush watermelon backdrop. The backdrop has abrash, the unique effect of natural variation in color that is found only in vintage handamde rugs that use natural dyes.  The result is a stunning watermelon color that is made up of lighter and darker pinks throughout the rug.  Framed by an ivory ribbon of intricate geometric motifs and designs in the same soft colors, this runner is an elegant, timeless classic.  All colors are made from only vegetable and other natural dyes.
