This handmade vintage Persian Sarough Mir runner from the 1980s is extremely fine quality and in mint condition. The allover repeating intricate paisley (known as boteh, an ancient tribal precursor to the paisley) design is made up of tiny knots of royal blue, sapphire blue, emerald green, white and either pale gold, olive or taupe, all resting on a persimmon background, a beautiful shade of orange-red. The border is particularly striking and intriguing - an ivory frame of intricate colorful geometric details that almost resemble hieroglyphics. They are woven in the same bright colors as the botehs, surrounded by thin rows of royal blue with small colorful geometric motifs and edged with white and emerald green. All colors are made from only vegetable and other natural dyes. Note the fine and precise details that come from the high knot count or KPSI (knots per square inch). This runner is perfect for high traffic areas and anywhere you want to add color and softness underfoot. This rug is top of the line quality with a noticeably soft, thick pile that is cushy underfoot and will last generations. Note the leather strips sewn on the back to keep the rug from slipping - another sign of fine quality. Size: 3'8"x9'11"
