This handmade fine quality vintage Persian Sarough Mir runner from the 1980s is in mint condition. The allover repeating intricate paisley (known as boteh, an ancient tribal precursor to the paisley) design is made up of tiny knots of shell pink, aquamarine, white, midnight blue and champagne, details that become apparent as you get closer to the rug, much like a poitillist painting. The lush peach background is a beautiful compliment to the many shades of pink and blue. The details in the rug are very fine and precise because of the high knot count and fine craftsmanship. The border is particularly striking and intriguing - a pale shell pink frame of intricate colorful geometric details that almost resemble hieroglyphics. They are knotted by hand in the same colors as the runner, adding yellow and mint green to the palette. This is surrounded by midnight blue, azure blue and shell pink rows of geometric repeating motifs, encased in thin rows of yellow and peach. All colors are made from only vegetable and other natural dyes. This runner has unique colors that are hard to find, and call to mind a beautiful spring garden. Size: 3'7"x10'1"
