This is a beautiful and fine quality handmade vintage blue Persian Sarough Mir runner, hand-knotted in the 1980s and in mint condition. The allover repeating intricate tribal paisley (known as boteh, the ancient precursor to paisley) design appears almost houndstooth from afar, but the charming small paisleys in a surprising array of colors appear when you look closer - royal blue, azure blue, white, shell pink and pink coral, all resting beautifully on the lush violet or grape blue backdrop, a rich and lush color that has some slight variations in shade, a phenomenon known as abrash, unique to handmade rugs using only natural dyes. Bordered by a white frame that lightens and brightens the runner, delicate and intricate geometric details dance through the frame in all of the above colors. All colors are made from only vegetable and other natural dyes. Perfect for high traffic areas, this runner has a thick, supple pile and will be soft underfoot and will last generations. Size: 3'9"x10'2"
