This is an extremely fine quality handmade vintage Persian Sarough Mahal runner with a floral allover pattern that is often referred to as a Victorian design. Hand-knotted with incredibly rich colors made from only vegetable and other natural dyes, this runner was woven with fine quality wool that has a sheen to it. The rug's intricate floral sprays fill the bright red open field, revolving around a delicate series of central floral bouquets and a beautiful border which frames the runner in a colorful ribbon of small flowers on the vine on a black background surrounded by mint green rows, interspersed with pink, blue and green overflowing flower bouquets. The stunning shades of sapphire, coral, tangerine, pink, fruit punch, rose, mint green, hunter green, taupe, ivory, copper and countless other colors are used to hand-knot the flowers on the lush strawberry red backdrop. This runner is handmade with a full, soft pile that can withstand high traffic and will last generations. Handmade in the 1980s, it has only a few areas of light distress -- the binding has been reinforced in some areas and the pile is imperfect in a few areas - see last 2 photos for close-ups. These minor imperfections make this special piece a great bargain! Size: 3'6"x11'2"
