This is an elegant and versatile vintage handmade fine quality Persian Sarough Mahal runner. Hand-knotted in the 1980s, this runner is in mint condition with a notably thick, plush, soft pile made from fine quality wool that is cushy underfoot, can withstand high traffic areas and will continue to last for generations. The intricate repeating tribal motifs of flowers and other intriguing designs are hand-knotted in vivid colors. They create an allover design on the deep cherry red, lush backdrop. The details are knotted by hand in ballet slipper pink, royal blue, heather gray, white, silver, orange, crimson, taupe and pale mint green. The border has a charming complementary floral and vine motif in pink and gray on the red background, framed by thin rows of silvery ivory that lighten the runner and have ribbons of diamonds in all the colors of the rug, which are made from only vegetable & other natural dyes. Size: 3'5"x10'4"
