This is a spectacular Persian Sarough, where the colors and the patterns take your breath away and the photos don't do it justice.  This stunning antique was handmade in the 1950's and is in remarkably pristine shape for its age. It was hand-knotted with high quality wool and superior craftsmanship and the fine wool has a sheen to it in the light.  The rug has a full pile, with some areas of light distress and lower pile (see last photos). It is soft underfoot and can withstand high traffic.  The allover floral bouquet design is a traditional pattern that is also timeless, often described as Victorian.  The colors truly sparkle and shift in the light. The backdrop is a rich crimson red that is artfully woven with abundant floral and vine motifs in exquisite detail, sprays and bouquets of flowers hand-knotted in azure blue, Carolina blue and sky blue, sapphire, gold, shell pink, orange, fruit punch, salmon, moss green, walnut, coral, carnation pink, pale peach, taupe and   countless other rich tones that are only made from vegetable and other natural dyes. They have the unique patina that only comes from antique rugs like this that have aged beautifully.  The border is spectacular with complementary larger floral motifs and other Victorian flourishes in the same elegant colors. The bindings are perfect, the fringes are intact but distressed - we're happy to send photos or video, just ask!  Size: 10'x17'
