This is a stunning extremely plush vintage handmade Persian Sarough. Hand-knotted in the 1960s, this rug has a few minor areas of distress which makes it a great deal for such a large fine quality rug. Hand-knotted with fine quality wool and masterful craftsmanship, the rug has exquisite detail in the medallion, corners and border. It also has a notably thick, soft, plush, dense pile that is cushy and soft underfoot and can withstand high traffic. It will continue to last for generations. The rich, luxurious cherry red open field is an elegant backdrop for the most exquisite floral sprays & bouquets in gold, midnight blue, ballet slipper and carnation pink, pale peach, pale lime green, olive green, burgundy, fruit punch, pale yellow, ivory, peach, champagne and countless other elegant colors, all made from only natural dyes. The floral medallion bursts from the center of the cherry red open field and is perfectly and symmetrically echoed in the exquisite and elaborate corners which lead to the thick border frame of abundant flowers on a midnight blue backdrop. The distress is primarily in the fringe, which is perfectly intact but uneven and distressed. The bindings are perfectly in tact but the edges have some lower pile areas. There are also a few areas of lower pile in the red open field. See photos for details. Size: 10'4"x13'10"
