This is an extraordinary rug and a rare find -- a handmade antique Persian Sarough Farahan from the 1920s in excellent condition with an intricate floral allover design. The colors have that unique patina and abrash (variation) that only comes with antique handmade rugs made with natural and vegetable dyes. A rich deep shade of coral is the backdrop for the intricate floral and tribal motifs that create the pattern for this masterpiece. The colors are muted shades of pink, peach, bone, indigo, gold, fern green, olive green, azure blue and countless others made from only vegetable dyes. The border is a luxurious shade of midnight blue, framed by thin ribbons of white and rust, all covered in geometric floral and vine designs in complementary colors. White is used throughout to lighten and brighten the rug. You have too see it to truly appreciate its splendor. This rug has an even low pile and despite its age, it can handle high traffic and will continue to last for generations. There are a few areas of lower pile - see the last photo for a close-up. This adds to the rug's authenticity and natural beauty, Size: 8'11"x12'2"
