This is a rare find - a handmade vintage large traditional Persian Sarough of the finest quality in mint condition with the thickest, softest pile imaginable. Hand-knotted in the 1960s by master weavers, this rug is made from the highest quality wool that comes from the softest parts of the lamb. It is handmade with superior craftsmanship and only vegetable and other natural dyes. The traditional floral and medallion design is exquisitely woven in intricate details by hand on a rich watermelon red background with a spectacular medallion of deep royal blue, azure blue and ivory, with elegant floral details with pale yellow, chartreuse, bubble gum pink, midnight blue, indigo and olive green. Note the large pink roses that are in full bloom. This rug was likely woven for aristocracy and could have easily been made for a palace.  The floral sprays and bouquets throughout the rug's open field are hand-knotted with incredibly fine details and countless other colors. The rug's corners are magnificent, midnight blue flourishes that have their own small posies of pink and blue flowers, which lead into the stunning border, a perfect echo of the medallion and the corners with its midnight blue background and large elegant flowers in all the colors of the rug. The rug is incredibly dense and thick, cushy underfoot and able to withstand high traffic. It will certainly continue to last for generations.  Size:  10'6"x14'6"
