This is a museum quality piece, a Persian Nain woven by hand of the finest silk and wool with an extremely high knot count (KPSI, knots per square inch) of approximately 700. It was made with superior craftsmanship, woven on a silk base with the finest wool and silk accents, which gives it an elegant sheen and a very smooth feel to the touch. The rug is breathtaking in its elegance and its traditional floral design, with exquisitely detailed flower and vine patterns surrounding the spectacular central medallion and filling the rug's field and borders with their intricate, swirling beauty. This rug is like a symphony in blue with its many subtle shades harmonizing perfectly. The ivory background is an elegant setting for the medallion and borders adorned in floral details and flourishes in midnight blue, sapphire, cornflower blue and steel blue, heather gray, silver, bright white, plum, olive and burgundy, all made of only vegetable and other natural dyes. The border is a complementary series of flowers on the vine, framed by rows of blue. This Nain is known as a "6 La" (meaning 6 layer) because of the extremely fine knots and threads of silk. It is a one of a kind collector's piece in mint condition that will continue to last for generations. Size: 8'5"x12'7"
