This is an extremely fine quality antique Persian Nain, handmade of the finest materials with a high knot count or KPSI (knots per square inch) for precise details and superior craftsmanship. The rug is known as 4 LA (layer), which is one of the finest quality Nain rugs available, made of the finest quality silk and soft wool.  Its exquisitely detailed allover design is quite unique, full of floral and vine patterns, frolicking animals, elegant vases and urns and countless other details. The rug's intricate swirling floral details revolve around and within stunning, elegant medallions in taupe, sage green and mauve, and the background colors shift from midnight blue to bright sapphire blue to a rich plum.  These same colors make up the rug's many patterns and designs, along with white, steel blue, silver, navy blue and cornflower blue. The border is ivory, resplendent with small animals such as lambs and exotic birds, interspersed with flowers and vines, sprays and bouquets in the same soft shades of blue. This ivory frame is surrounded by thin sapphire, silver and white rows of small flowers alongside thicker silver rows of blue and white flowers on the vine.
