This is an elegant and very fine quality Persian Nahavand vintage runner, hand-knotted in the 1980s and in mint condition. The allover repeating paisley (known as boteh, an ancient precursor to paisley) design reveals a wonderful mix of autumn colors as you get closer, much like a pointillist painting. The paisleys repeat in perfect rows across an inky black background. Each boteh/paisley is made up of orange, ivory, strawberry red, indigo blue, mocha and rosewood. They almost have an appearance of falling autumn leaves. The border is a particularly beautiful and perfectly complementary element of this long runner. The ivory frame lightens and brightens the rug, and its intricate geometric floral and vine design complements the runner perfectly, showcasing its beautiful colors against the lighter backdrop. The border is framed by rosewood and sapphire thin stripes, bringing out the blues in the rug. All colors are made from only vegetable and other natural dyes. Perfect for high traffic areas, this runner has an incredibly thick, soft and supple pile that will be heavenly underfoot and continue to last generations. Size: 3'7"x13'11"
