This fine quality vintage handmade Persian Meshkin rug/gallery size runner was hand-knotted by expert tribal weavers using fine quality wool and only vegetable and other natural dyes. It can withstand high traffic and will last generations.  The bold geometric design has three large squares down the center with eight-pointed stars known as the stars of wisdom, a very important ancient tribal rug symbol representing one of the most important human "possessions".  These squares and stars are surrounded by geometric symbols and motifs in intricate detail throughout the rug and all the way through the beautiful border. The rug is hand-knotted in soft, muted colors that only come from handmade natural dyes -- watermelon pink, charcoal gray, pale yellow, bone, walnut, ivory, plum and white.  The border is of particular interest, with multiple rows of small repeating fine motifs. Thin charcoal ribbons with plum and white and taupe frame a bright white border of larger tribal rosettes in all the beautiful colors of the runner, lightening and brightening the rug.
