This is a stunning top quality vintage Persian Mashad, hand-knotted in the 1980's and in mint condition. This traditional floral and medallion rug design is from a region known for its unique and brilliant colors and incredibly detailed designs. This rug is made from fine quality wool which makes for a thick, dense, soft, supple and plush pile that is cushy underfoot and can handle high traffic. It will continue to last for generations. The superior craftsmanship is evidenced by the fine details and high knot count or KPSI (knots per square inch). The intricate floral and vine design creates a rug that is bursting with spring flowers in full bloom on a bright, rich red background with a midnight blue border. The orange central medallion and corner detailing really pops against the ivory and azure blue accents and floral details. The medallion has a midnight blue layer before it transitions into the cherry red, and all of the layers are abundantly adorned with intricate floral and vine sprays in all of the previously mentioned colors plus shell pink, carnation pink, taupe, almond, olive green, peach, silver, chartreuse and countless other vivid colors, all made from only vegetable and other natural dyes. The rich border has its own spectacular complementary larger floral and vine pattern with thin ribbons of colorful small flowers framing the midnight blue on white rows. You have to see and feel this rug to truly appreciate it! Size: 8'x10'10"
