This is an elegant vintage handmade Persian Koliai runner/area rug in truly unique and show-stopping colors. It is known as a "gallery size" for its large size and the ratio between its length and width. It can be used as a wide runner in a hallway or entryway or as an area rug for narrow spaces such as in front of a couch or a bed. The chic small repeating pattern that looks almost like houndstooth from afar is actually a network of tiny flowers with coral, pink, and eggplant purple petals and bright royal blue or sky blue centers, connected by a dark charcoal gray and ivory web of "vines". A soothing shade of sand creates the backdrop for a stunning central floral medallion and matching corners in exquisite details and colors. The gorgeous flower in full bloom at the center of the rug is hand-knotted in rich shades of fruit punch, purple, ballet slipper pink, fuchsia, turquoise, teal, Turkish blue, heather gray, mint green, lime green, silver and white. These colors are echoed in the rich floral corners and border, with intricate finely woven details of elegant flourishes and small geometric flowers that rest on Turkish blue. The border has a unique complementary geometric pattern in primarily fruit punch and purple with accents in all the colors of the medallion, framed by thin rows of charming small flowers on the vine. This creates a very luxurious rug in both look and feel. Hand-knotted in the 1980's, this runner/rug is in mint condition, has a soft pile that can withstand high traffic and will last generations. All colors are made with only vegetable and other natural dyes. Size: 5'1"x10'
