This is an elegant vintage handmade Persian Koliai runner that is known as a "gallery size" for its large size and the ratio between its length and width.  It can be used as a wide runner in a hallway or entryway or as an area rug for narrow spaces such as in front of a couch or a bed. The chic sand and ivory colored small repeating diamond pattern is made up of tiny flowers of midnight blue and red which create the backdrop for a stunning central floral medallion in exquisite details and colors and the most spectacular corners.  The gorgeous flower in full bloom at the center of the rug is hand-knotted in a bright strawberry red with cobalt blue and turquoise petals, accents of peach and orange, yellow and pale pink, silver and sapphire. This gorgeous flower's colors are echoed in the corners with intricate details of elegant flourishes and small flowers, with cobalt blue as the dominant color.  The border is a thick ribbon of royal blue that has a geometric pattern with small intermittent flowers, wherein peach and turquoise are the primary accents. It is framed by two thin ribbons of crimson red with charming colorful flowers on the vine. This creates a very luxurious rug in both look and feel.  Hand-knotted in the 1980's, this runner is in mint condition, has a soft and remarkably supple and thick pile that can withstand high traffic and will last generations. All colors are made with only vegetable and other natural dyes.  Size: 5'3"x9'8"
