This is an elegant vintage handmade Persian Koliai runner that was handmade by Kurdish weavers. It is known as a "gallery size" for its large size and the ratio between its length and width.  It can be used as a wide runner in a hallway or entryway or as an area rug for narrow spaces such as in front of a couch or a bed. The chic small repeating diamond pattern is a dark sand with ivory and when you look closely, you see that there are small flowers of pink, purple, teal and blue which create the backdrop for a stunning central floral medallion in exquisite details and colors and the most spectacular corners.  The gorgeous flower in full bloom at the center of the rug is hand-knotted in Tiffany blue and azure blue with teal, turquoise, and pale pink. This blue flower rests on a luscious deep watermelon with turquoise, sea green and ballet slipper pink accents.  These colors are echoed in the corners with intricate details of elegant flourishes and small flowers in aquamarine, watermelon and Tiffany blue.  The border is a thick ribbon of watermelon that has a geometric pattern with small intermittent flowers, framed by two ribbons of royal blue with charming flowers on the vine. This creates a very luxurious rug in both look and feel.  Hand-knotted in the 1980's, this runner is in mint condition, has a soft pile that can withstand high traffic and will last generations. All colors are made with only vegetable and other natural dyes.  Size: 5'2"x9'6"
