This is an elegant vintage handmade Persian Koliai that can be used as an area rug or as a "gallery size" runner thanks to its large size and the ratio between its length and width.  This rug would be elegant in a large hallway, foyer or entryway or as an area rug for long and narrow spaces such as in front of a couch or a large bed. The chic small repeating diamond pattern that creates the rug's background is copper and ivory, separated by midnight blue rows and tiny rosewood flowers.  The stunning central floral medallion in exquisite details and colors and the most spectacular matching corners rest beautifully on this copper and ivory backdrop.  The gorgeous flower in full bloom at the center of the rug jumps from its canvas, hand-knotted in luminescent shades of sapphire, blue lavender and pink coral, with accents in orange, teal, silver and ivory.  These colors are echoed in the rich floral corners with intricate finely woven tribal floral details.  The deep violet blue border has a geometric repeating pattern that resembles tribal flowers on the vine, framed by two thin ribbons of sapphire and crimson with charming small colorful flowers on the vine. This creates a very luxurious rug in both look and feel.  Hand-knotted in the 1980's, this rug is in mint condition, has a soft pile that can withstand high traffic and will last generations.
