This is an elegant vintage handmade Persian Koliai area rug or what known as a "gallery size" runner for its large size and the ratio between its length and width.  It can be used as a very wide runner in a hallway or entryway or as an area rug for longer spaces such as in front of a couch or a bed. The chic small repeating sand and ivory colored diamond pattern has small flower details in sapphire blue and punch pink.  This creates the backdrop for a stunning central floral medallion and the most spectacular corners.  The gorgeous flower in full bloom at the center of the rug is hand-knotted in sapphire blue, punch pink, shell pink and ivory, with small accents in azure blue, moss green and orange.  These colors are echoed in the corners with intricate details of elegant flourishes and small flowers on the vine.  The border is a stunning thick ribbon of royal blue that has a geometric and floral pattern, framed by two ribbons of rose with charming blue, pink and white flowers on the vine. This creates a very luxurious rug in both look and feel.  Hand-knotted in the 1980's, this versatile rug is in mint condition, has a thick soft pile that can withstand high traffic and will last generations.
