This is an elegant vintage handmade Persian Koliai rug that could also serve as a "gallery size" runner.  The chic intricate repeating diamond design in sand and ivory with small raspberry flowers creates the backdrop for an eye-popping central floral medallion and matching corners, with a thick rich geometric border.  The spectacular flower at the heart of the rug has a raspberry coral backdrop with intricate finely knotted details in beautiful shades of turquoise, cream, copper, yellow and khaki, punctuated by black and white.  There are tiny flowers within the flower and wonderful deteails that emerge as you get closer to the rug.  The corners are equally stunning, with the same color palette and finely knotted floral details.  The finshing touch on the rug is the border, a deep midnight blue frame of geometric flowers and leaves in all of the rug's striking colors, with a sea green added to the design. Hand-knotted in the 1980's, this rug is in mint condition, has a soft pile that can withstand high traffic and will last generations. It is made of fine quality wool that has a lustrous quality in the light. All colors are made with only vegetable and other natural dyes.
