This is a spectacular vintage handmade Persian Koliai rug/runner that is known as a "gallery size" for the ratio between its length and width.  The copper open field is a chic backdrop for the exquisite intricate designs of geometric and tribal motifs and a striking center medallion that runs the length of the rug. The thick rich borders and corners mirror the medallion's colors and designs and the overall effect is stunning.  Bright red and the most beautiful shade of blue violet are the main accent and border colors, and they are surrounded by a supporting case of colors in turquoise, orange, bubble gum pink, gold, charcoal, sea green, fruit punch and walnut, punctuated with black and white.  Hand-knotted in the 1980's, this rug is in mint condition, can withstand high traffic and will last generations. All colors are made with only vegetable and other natural dyes.  It can be a fantastic runner for a wide hallway or an area rug for a narrow space such as the foot of a bed or in front of a couch.
