Yellow Flowers

This knockout antique handmade tribal  Persian Karajeh unner has a classic geometric design with a row of intricate medallions in exquisite detail and colors.   Hand-knotted in the 1920s, this rug was made with fine craftsmanship and a sturdy pile that has become a soft, even, low pile that can still withstand high traffic and will continue to last generations.  Vivid and vibrant earth tones are all made from only vegetable dyes and they have the unique patina and abrash, or natural variation that you only find in antique rugs handmade with natural dyes.  The terra cotta background is an elegant setting for the finely detailed snowflake-like motifs that alternate with 'guls', the geometric medallions that often represent natural elements such as lakes or mountains. These and other details fill the entire runner in royal blue, midnight blue, Tiffany blue, sky blue, pale lemon yellow, gold, maize, ivory, taupe, coral, burnt orange, dusty rose, khaki, and countless other subtle and soothing shades.   The small flowers and other complementary and unique tribal motifs in the  three thin borders of royal blue, sand and ivory add even more interest to this stunning rug.  The rug is in perfect condition, and has aged beautifully -- a truly special find.  Size: 3'2"x15'5"
