Yellow Flowers

This handmade vintage Persian Hamedan runner is both floral and tribal and has rich colors made from only vegetable and other natural dyes.  It was hand-knotted in the 1980s and has several areas of abrash, the natural variation in dyes that often occurs in handmade rugs that use only vegetable dyes (see last two photos for close-ups).  These minor imperfections add authenticity to the rug's one of a kind nature, and are the reason the rug is such a great price! The runner's intricate floral designs revolve around a delicate central medallion of sapphire, midnight blue, white, shell pink, heather gray, and watermelon red, colors that are echoed throughout the rug's highly detailed design.  The backdrop is the same shade of watermelon red, which transitions to a slightly lighter shade at times. These soft reds are the canvas for the beautiful floral sprays and bouquets, urns and vines that fill the open field with shades of blue and pink, adding turquoise, burgundy, copper and plum to the palette.    All of this is framed by ribbons of repeating small motifs- a copper row with a sweet flower and vine design is surrounded by thin rows of pink and blue wave-like motifs.  This runner is handmade with a full, sturdy pile that can withstand high traffic and will last generations.  Size: 3'8"x9'10"
