This is a truly beautiful and very fine quality vintage handmade tribal Persian Hamedan runner. Hand-knotted in the 1980s, this runner is made of fine quality wool, with a notably soft, thick and full pile that is great for high traffic and will last generations. The runner is in mint condition and hand-knotted with a high knot count or KPSI (knots per square inch) for very fine and crisp lines. The weaver even hand-knotted the date into the rug (see photo). The bold geometric medallion pattern that runs the length of the runner is hand-knotted in vivid colors that seem to burst from the rug, made of only natural and vegetable dyes. Candy apple red is the backdrop for these intricate medallions in royal blue, orange coral, sapphire, teal, silver, ivory, and a blue lavender, just some of the amazing colors that create the tribal designs that adorn the rug. Note the charming small exotic birds in the red open field. The border is a special part of this piece, a frame of blue lavender with a repeating geometric motif in all the colors of this rug, which lightens and brightens the runner. This rug really makes a statement and is heavenly underfoot! Size: 4'5"x9'10"
