This vibrant vintage Persian Hamedan rug/gallery size runner was hand-knotted in the 1980s and it is in mint condition.  Known as a gallery size runner for its broad width, this rug is great for high traffic areas, handmade with a thick, soft, and supple pile that is heavenly underfoot and sturdy enough to last for generations.  It can serve as a runner for spaces such as hallways and foyers or as an area rug for narrow spaces such as the front of a couch or at the foot of a double bed.  The colors of this rug seem to sparkle and change in the light, and the photos illustrate this beautifully.  All made with vegetable and other natural dyes, the rug has areas of abrash, which is the natural variation in natural dyes that only occurs in handmade vintage rugs.   The backdrop is best described as watermelon, with areas that appear more strawberry in some places. The rug is brightened and lightened by the bright white accents in the central floral medallion, the corners and the border.   What makes this rug spectacular is the brilliant sapphire blue that forms prominent accents in the center medallion and the intricate floral and geometric lattice-like design that fills the entire rug and the borders. The tiny floral and tribal details are hand-knotted in coral, shell pink, fruit punch, orange, chartreuse, peach, cherry, teal and countless other colors.  The border is a rich royal blue with its own unique playful designs in the same shades of pinks and blues.  Size: 5'3"x11'11"
