This striking vintage handmade tribal Persian Hamedan runner is made of fine quality wool, only natural and vegetable dyes and a high knot count or KPSI (knots per square inch) for precise details. It has a soft, full pile that is great for high traffic and will last generations. The runner was hand-knotted by expert tribal weavers in a classic bold geometric tri-medallion pattern that runs the length of the runner. The rich, vivid colors and precise details seem to burst from the dramatic black backdrop of the rug. Black is the perfect setting for the bright white medallions with subtle indigo blues and sage green star-like motifs, surrounded by six exotic birds (or other tribal beasts?) in black and gray against the white. These are in turn nested in strawberry red and sapphire layers. The black open field has colorful tiny tribal stars and pinwheel flowers in all of the colors of the medallions, adding peach and and ballet slipper pink to the color palette. The border is a gorgeous and special feature of this piece. Endless layers with different colors and tribal motifs lead to the plum frame of geometric autumn leaves in all the colors of the rug. This runner really makes a statement! Size: 3'8"x9'9"
