This striking vintage handmade Persian Hamedan runner is made of fine quality wool, with a soft, full pile that is great for high traffic and will last generations.  The runner was knotted by hand by expert tribal weavers in a classic bold geometric tri-medallion pattern that runs the length of the runner.  The rich, vivid colors and precise details seem to burst from the rug, made with only natural and vegetable dyes.  A muted red backdrop is the perfect setting for medallions in dramatic black and pale peach, with decorative and intricate tribal flowers and other details in orange, heather gray, charcoal, sapphire, gold, taupe, plum, white and countless other colors. The red open field is quite elegant, dotted with a few charming details, and framed by a gorgeous border, a special feature of this piece. The sand border is a necklace of geometric autumn leaves in all the colors of the rug,  framed by small tribal paisleys known as 'botehs' on one side and a garland of colors on the other.
