This fine quality vintage handmade tribal Persian Hamedan runner was hand-knotted by expert tribal weavers using fine quality wool that has a sheen to it in the light, and colors made from only vegetable and other natural dyes. The details are precise from the fine knots. The classic bold geometric pattern runs the length of the runner with six medallions known as 'guls' that often represent natural elements such as lakes or mountains. These medallions have a motif known as the ram's horn, representing the essential role that the animal plays in tribal life. They are hand-knotted in ivory, shell pink, rosewood, chocolate and walnut on a dramatic black background, edged in champagne and walnut against a rustic red open field and stark black corners. The design is bold and dramatic. The border is an intriguing tribal and geometric repeating pattern in all of the colors of the runner, adding indigo blue and gold. This runner has a full pile that is soft underfoot, can withstand high traffic and will last for generations. A very special piece. Size: 3'3"x9'8"
