This fine quality vintage handmade tribal Persian Hamedan runner was hand-knotted by expert tribal weavers using fine quality wool and only vegetable and other natural dyes. The classic bold geometric pattern runs the length of the runner with four matching medallions known as 'guls' that often represent natural elements such as lakes or mountains. These medallions are hand-knotted in red on a black background for a very dramatic effect, with royal blue, orange, khaki and white geometric flowers and other motifs. The black backdrop, edged in orange and blue, leads to red and midnight blue corners, which in turn lead to the charming border. The border is amixture of red and rust, a natural variation in dyes known as 'abrash' and typical of handmade vintage rugs that use vegetable dyes. It is decorated in small tribal star and leaf motifs in all of the colors of the runner, adding periwinkle blue. This is in turn framed by two thin black rows with white ribbons containing all of the colors of the runner. This runner has a full pile that is soft underfoot, can withstand high traffic and will last for generations. Size: 3'5"x9'4"
