This handmade fine quality vintage Persian Hamedan runner has an allover tribal and geometric intricate design and stunning subtle colors. It is in mint condition, handmade in the 1980s with a notably soft, thick and full pile that can withstand high traffic and will last generations. The background is an elusive shade of gray blue, hand-knotted with vegetable dyes that have natural variations in color, known as 'abrash'. This gives the runner a beautiful effect, with the backdrop shifting in subtle gradations from silver gray to lavender gray to steel blue gray. The intricate allover geometric design is hand-knotted with a trellis-like pattern in shades of pink, from pink coral, to rose pink to magenta. These provide a loose framework for tiny tribal flowers and other motifs in shell pink, silver, charcoal, white, sapphire, burgundy, and all of the subtle colors of the background and the lattice design. The border and the corners are a special addition to the rug's beauty. The cerise pink corners have tribal flowers and the border has its own larger geometric design resembling flowers on the vine in all the colors of the runner. Note the small wave-like design in teal that frames the border, and the addition of turquoise and royal blue as accents in the border, as well.
