This is a fine quality handmade vintage Persian Hamedan runner with a unique and charming allover design. The rug was made with fine craftsmanship and fine quality wool. The allover repeating intricate and small design resembles tiny pieces of fruit or even Christmas tree lights, made of rustic red, sapphire blue, cream and a beautiful shade of spearmint green. These small motifs rest on a background that is a mixture of midnight blue and black dyes (see last photo for close-up), which reads more like blue or black depending on the angle and the light. This natural variation in dyes is known as 'abrash' and is often a sign of a vintage handmade rug that only uses natural dyes. The border and corners are creamy ivory, which lightens and brightens the runner. They are hand-knotted with charming tribal floral and vine designs in the colors of the runner along with turquoise blue, copper and burgundy, framed by thin rows of small repeating colorful flowers on rustic red backdrops. All colors are made from only vegetable and other natural dyes. Perfect for high traffic areas, this runner has a sturdy, full pile that will last generations. Size: 3'5"x9'10"
