This is a brand new and fine quality handmade Persian Baluch accent rug or small runner. This rug is known as a "Finest Baluch" because it was hand-knotted by expert Baluchi tribal weavers with a beautiful and unique allover design of alternating flowers and geometric paisleys known as "botehs", an ancient precursor to paisley that is found in many tribal textiles from around the world. It was often used to represent life/eternity as a symbol of nature. The colorful flowers and paisleys are detailed and finely knotted in candy apple red, hunter green, indigo, bright cobalt blue, orange, chocolate, burgundy and copper on a bright white backdrop for rather dramatic effect. All colors are made from only natural, vegetable dyes. The border is a complementary and equally intricate design with a series of rows of wave-like repeating motifs. Handmade with 100% lambswool, this rug has a soft full pile that can withstand high traffic and will last generations. The rug has some very minor areas of distress on the binding (see last photo). The rug is completely intact and otherwise in perfect condition (which is why it is such a great price)! Size: 3'1"x6'
