This is an absolutely spectacular vintage Persian Esefehan that can also be hung as a tapestry.  Superior quality craftsmanship, a high knot count or KPSI (knots per square inch) and extremely fine quality silk and wool make for a museum quality rug.  Handmade in the 1970s in silk and wool on a silk base, this vintage piece is in truly mint condition. It will continue to last generations. The precision and beauty of the medallion and floral details throughout the rug and its borders are breathtaking.  The crimson red background is a dramatic backdrop for a stunning medallion in azure blue and midnight blue with white, crimson, ballet slipper pink, camel, olive green, mauve, lavender and countless other colors.  Floral and vine motifs cascade from the center and fill the rug with elegant swirling flowers and leaves in these same colors in perfect symmetry.  The white designs really pop from the red backdrop, with the silk catching the light.  The next layer is a soft sage green, leading to the azure blue frame, itself framed by thin ribbons of white,  each layer lovingly adorned with delicate flowers on the vine.
